* Check the terminal 50 (Starter solenoid signal) wire from terminal 8/87 of the J53 relay -to- T17a/16 for damage in the E-Box. If that wire is OK make sure the starter cranks when bypassing the J53 relay before tracing the Black/Red wire to the Engine controller.

When found in any other Audi using a similar 2-relay (J53 and J695) Starter system verify the wiring diagram matches the above notes before removing the wipers and opening the E-box.
