* When found in VW Passat (3C), the Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764) cannot be replaced individually and the entire Steering Column need to be replaced as well. If the Steering Column needs to be replaced the Comfort Control Module (J393) needs to be replaced too since it houses the Immobilizer related Functions. See TPI 2018893 for further details.

02811 - Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764): Faulty

Possible Symptoms

  • Electronic Steering Column Lock not working
  • Engine not starting

Possible Causes

  • Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to Electronic Ignition Lock (D9) faulty
  • Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Check Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to Electronic Ignition Lock (D9)
  • Check/Replace Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764)

Special Notes
