02844 - Lamp for Automatic Parking Function: Open or Short to Ground

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Control Module incorrectly coded, Auto-Hold not installed
  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Brake Light Switch (F) faulty
  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Lamp for Auto-Hold (K237) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Perform Output Test
  • Check Control Module Coding
  • Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Brake Light Switch (F)
  • Check Wiring/Connectors and fuse(s) from/to Lamp for Auto-Hold (K237)

Special Notes

  • When found in VW Passat (3C): Parking Brake
    • Check if Auto-Hold is installed/equipped, car data plate (sticker on 1st page of the service manual or identical sticker in the trunk) should have a UH2 tag and Parking Brake Control Module Coding accordingly. After Coding make sure to Cycle the Ignition and leave it OFF for at least 30 Seconds.
