01794 - Control Module: Incorrect Chassis (VIN) Number

Possible Causes

• Control Module was never adapted to a Car (New Control Module)
• Control Module was originally adapted to a different Car (Used Control Module)

Possible Solutions

• Check Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of Control Module and Car
  • Perform Vehicle Data Learning

Special Notes

• When found in Audi A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet (8E/8H): Heating/Air Conditioning, perform Vehicle Data Learning (Adaptation).
• When found in Audi A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet (8E/8H): Airbag 8.4, perform Vehicle Data Learning (Adaptation).
• When found in Audi A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet (8E/8H): Airbag 9.41, perform Vehicle Data Learning (Adaptation).
  • When the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in Airbag and Instrument Cluster matches, try clearing the fault code. If it does not clear, ignore it as long the airbag warning light is not active. For further details see TPI 2007313.
• When found in Audi A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet (8E/8H): Steering Wheel, perform Vehicle Data Learning (Adaptation).
• When found in Audi A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet (8E/8H): Seat Adjustment, perform Vehicle Data Learning (Adaptation).
• When found in Audi A4/S4/RS4/Cabriolet (8E/8H) (if the above Procedures do not succeed):
  • When the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in Instrument Cluster does NOT match the real one, the VIN stored in the Instrument Clusters might be lost or corrupted. This problem can usually only be resolved by installing a new Instrument Cluster or finding somebody who is able to repair the old one.   • When all Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) data is correct but the Airbag Control Module (J234) still shows this error, please check TPI 2007313. If the circumstances match this fault code may be ignored.
