General Information about the DQ500 Transmission can be found in the Wikipedia entry. Additional information can be found in the Official Factory Repair Information and sources such as SSP (Self-Study Program 950173) and SSP (Self-Study Program 850183).

(DQ500 = 0BT, 0BH, 0DE, 0GC)

Coding

  • When replacing this Mechatronic unit, if the old Control Module is still accessible, prior to replacement read/copy it's Coding and Paste it into the New coding line of the replacement Module.
  • If the original Coding is unknown, coding information can sometimes be found in the pop-up balloon within the VCDS [Coding-07] function.

Basic Setting

Prerequisites:

  • Transmission fluid level is correct and temperature greater than 15°C (Do NOT continue if the temp is too low)
  • No fault codes other than P175F 00 [047] - Basic Settings Not Performed
  • Advanced Measuring Values = [Control Module temperature]
  • Selector lever in [P]
  • Engine at idle speed, do not press accelerator pedal
  • Parking brake and foot brake applied during the entire procedure

Important!

  • All Prerequisites must be adhered to
  • The brake pedal must be depressed during the entire procedure
  • Not all transmission controllers support this Basic Settings function

DQ500 - Basic Settings Procedure

[Select] - [02 - Transmission]

[Basic Settings - UDS]
Select [Basic settings of transmission] (Do not press [Go!] yet!)

Select the following [Show Measuring Data] values:

[Engine speed]
[Main status of abort code basic setting]
[Status of basic setting]
[Status of basic setting data for clutch]
[Status of basic setting data; gear selector]
[Sub-status of abort code basic setting]

Then press [Go!]

Display should read [Running]

Wait for the [Finished correctly]
Press [Done, Go Back]
Check for fault codes.
Close controller
Important! Cycle the ignition Off and then Back On!
(Failure to complete this last step will result in the inability to select any gear!)

Special Notes

  • During the basic setting procedure, there maybe some loud gear shifting noises from the transmission, this is normal.
  • If the Basic Settings fail, please email Ross-Tech with a complete Auto-Scan and the information found in the [Show Measuring Data] at the time of failure.
  • Basic settings may not complete successfully if:
    • The fluid temperature gets too hot.
    • Brake is released
