17658/P1250 - Fuel Level too Low

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine difficult to start

Possible Causes

  • Low fuel
  • Malfunction in fuel level sender(s)

Possible Solutions

  • Verify fuel level and add fuel as necessary
  • If the fuel gauge does not reflect the true fuel level, check and repair fuel level sender(s)

Special Notes

  • On some vehicles, this fault may persist even after fuel is added. A test drive of 16 km / 10 mi may be required in order to clear the fault. Ref: Volkswagen CTT 20-16-02, also Ross-Tech case study.
