01521 - Sensor for Tire Pressure

01521 - Sensor for Tire Pressure: Lower Limit Exceeded

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Tire Pressure too Low
  • Tire Pressure Sensor(s) not installed
    • Winter Tires without Sensors

Possible Solutions

  • Check Tire Pressure
  • Check/Install Tire Pressure Sensors

01521 - Sensor for Tire Pressure: No Signal/Communication

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Tire Pressure Sensor(s) faulty
  • Tire Pressure Sensor(s) not installed

Possible Solutions

  • Check/Install Tire Pressure Sensors
    • Check individual Sensors via Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)

Special Notes

  • On Systems without Position Recognition (e.g. 1K-chassis Golf/Jetta or or 3C-chassis Passat), raise or lower the pressure in one tire at a time and double check the Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 001-012 (and 016) for changes. If you find one which does not change after raising or lowering the Pressure, you have most likely found the faulty Sensor.
    • Note: It may take up to 2 minutes before a pressure change is detected by the control module and displayed in the Measuring Value Block (MVB). To locate the individual Wheels it helps to make a note the Sensor Identification Number.
