16885/P0501/001281 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22): Implausible Signal

Possible Causes

  • Wiring/Connectors from/to Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22) faulty
  • Wiring/Connectors from Transmission Control Module (J217) to Engine Control Module faulty
  • Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22) faulty
  • Malfunctioning Left Front wheel speed sensor (in vehicles that don't use a physical G22 sensor)

Possible Solutions

  • Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22)
  • Check Wiring/Connectors from Transmission Control Module (J217) to Engine Control Module
  • Check Vehicle Speed Sensor (G22)
  • Check ABS Brakes for faults and diagnose malfunctioning Left Front wheel speed sensor if applicable

Special Notes

  • When found in the 4E Chassis A8 with 5.2L V10 make sure this DTC is not the end result of using Basic Settings 200 for Readiness!
    • Address 01 and Address 11 part numbers such as 4E0 910 552 A may require clearing this fault code followed by a test drive before Basic Settings in either Engine controller address are possible.
