Ross-Tech is not responsible for any damage or problems that may result from following these instructions. They are to be used at your own risk.

These instructions apply to the VW Golf/Jetta/Bora (1K/5M).

Note: For many 20010 and newer vehicles, including the VW Golf/Golf Plus (5K/52) + and the 2010 VW Jetta (1K/AJ) models, a newer 09-Central Electronics module (BCM) replaces the previous generation 46-Central Conv. module. Those models are not covered on this page.

  • It is always recommended to perform a complete Auto-Scan and save it prior to coding changes. Please see the Online Manual: Auto Scan Screen
  • Never Copy coding from a different vehicle and Paste it to your module(s)!

The installed control modules vary by vendor, firmware level and equipment level, some of the noted tweaks may not be supported by all control modules / vehicles.

[09] - Central Electronics

Lighting

All modifications are found in Found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper unless otherwise noted. Click on each of the Bytes and Bits for the documented options and check and un-check the appropriate boxes.

Daytime Running Lights - The systems are coded differently depending on the market:

  • "Daytime Running Lights (Scandinavia) active" should result in ALL exterior lights running
  • "Daytime Running Lights (North America)" should result in headlights Only lights running

Fogs as Daytime Running Lights when applicable

  • Enable "Daytime Running Light via Fog Lights"

Daytime Running Lights Dimming If DRLs are Halogen bulbs (not Xenon) the dimming resolution may be adjusted.

  • Select the Byte with "Daytime Running Lights Dimming" "Decimal Value (Resolution: 1%)" and alter the value.
  • Additional Light Dimming bits are available for other lighting circuits.

Front and /or Rear Fog Light dimming behavior with High Beams or Trailer
Depending on equipment level, additional coding bits may be available.

  • Front Fog Lights deactivated with High Beam
  • Rear Fog Light Deactivation with Trailer active

Cornering Lights via Front Fog Lights active when applicable

  • Enable "Internal Turn Light Control Algorithm active"
  • Next, Enable "Turn Lights via Fog Lights"
  • Additional [Adaptation - 10] options may be available for dimming duration activation/deactivation

Notes: After Cornering Lights via Front Fog Lights is active, the lights may work under the following conditions:

  • The headlights must be turned on and the steering wheel must be in the turning direction.
  • The headlights must be turned on and the turn signal must be on in the turning direction.

Comfort Turn signals

  • Comfort Turn signals may be turned On -or- Off via coding. The number of flashes cannot be adjusted.

Emergency Brake Warning active The Brake Lights should flash under Panic stopping conditions.

  • Enable "Emergency Brake Flash Light active"

[17] - Instrument Cluster

Seatbelt Chime May remove the light as well

  • Found in [Coding - 07].

Unlike the 09 and 46 modules the Instrument Cluster uses conventional Short coding. The coding is the sum of numbers that need added or subtracted from the proper position(s).

Look at the third and fourth digits in the coding (00??x0x). Add the values for the options together and put them in the third and fourth digit location to get the correct coding.

00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active
+16 - Sedan (Jetta)

So, if your stock Soft Coding is 0023203 and you want to remove the seatbelt chime, put in a new value of 0021203.

  • Additional "Seatbelt Warning" options may be available under [Adaptation - 10]

Modify Service Intervals Mileage and Time

  • Found in [Adaptation - 10].

Depending on the vehicle configuration, options for Min. Distance and Time to service may be altered.

  • The [SRI Reset] function is used for normal Service Reset procedures.

Fuel Gauge and Fuel Consumption Adaption when applicable

  • Found in [Adaptation - 10].
    • Consumption Correction
    • Fuel gauge adaptation

[46] - Comfort System

Windows

Found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper

Windows up via remote Comfort Operation (via Remote Control)

  • Uncheck the box for "Comfort function power windows/sunroof via remote control inactive"
  • Check the box for "Comfort opening power windows via remote control active"
  • Check the box for "Comfort closing power windows via remote control active"
  • Check the box for "Closing sunroof via remote control active"

Note, For some reason, VW does not allow the sunroof to be opened using the remote, only closed, despite the presence of a checkbox indication for that feature.
