Coding

  • Coding information is found using the Long Coding Helper while connected to the vehicle with VCDS.
  • When replacing a module it is critical to save the original coding and transfer it to the new module as explained in the Replacement section below.

Adaptation

Channel 000: Remote Control Clearing

  • This Adaptation Channel is used to clear all matched Remote Controls.

Channel 001: Remote Control Matching

  • Start Matching new/additional Remote Controls with entering 1, then Test and Save the New Value.
  • Press and hold the Unlock button for at least one second on each Remote Control you want to add, the Blinkers will light up to confirm the Adaptation Process of each Remote Control.

Notes:

  • The time for matching remotes after saving the new value should not exceed 15 seconds. You can add a maximum of 4 remotes.
  • If the [Test] and/or [Save] buttons are gray and not clickable the module likely has all 4 positions filled and clearing remotes will be necessary in Channel 000.
  • Remote Control for Cars equipped with Keyless Entry and Access are automatically being matched when Adapting the Immobilizer/Keys.

Channel 003: Selective (Single) Door Locking

  • 0 = Selective Door Locking OFF
  • 1 = Selective Door Locking ON

Channel 004: Auto-Lock

The Doors will lock automatically when the Vehicle reaches a Speed of 15 km/h or 10 mph.

  • 0 = Auto-Lock OFF
  • 1 = Auto-Lock ON

Channel 005: Auto-Unlock

The Doors will unlock automatically when the Key is removed from the Ignition Switch.

  • 0 = Auto-Unlock OFF
  • 1 = Auto-Unlock ON

Channel 007: Unlocking Confirmation (Remote Control)

Type of Confirmation when unlocking the Car via Remote Control.

  • 0 = Confirmation OFF
  • 1 = Confirmation via Blinker/Turn Signal
  • 2 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn
  • 3 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn & Blinker/Turn Signal

Channel 008: Unlocking Confirmation (Key Switch)

Type of Confirmation when unlocking the Car via Key/Lock Switch.

  • 0 = Confirmation OFF
  • 1 = Confirmation via Blinker/Turn Signal
  • 2 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn
  • 3 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn & Blinker/Turn Signal

Channel 010: Locking Confirmation (Remote Control)

Type of Confirmation when locking the Car via Remote Control.

  • 0 = Confirmation OFF
  • 1 = Confirmation via Blinker/Turn Signal
  • 2 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn
  • 3 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn & Blinker/Turn Signal

Channel 011: Locking Confirmation (Key Switch)

Type of Confirmation when locking the Car via Key/Lock Switch.

  • 0 = Confirmation OFF
  • 1 = Confirmation via Blinker/Turn Signal
  • 2 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn
  • 3 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn & Blinker/Turn Signal

Channel 012: Safe Confirmation

Type of Confirmation when the car is being locked.

  • 0 = Confirmation OFF
  • 1 = Confirmation via Blinker/Turn Signal
  • 2 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn
  • 3 = Confirmation via Beep/Horn & Blinker/Turn Signal

Channel 013: Alarm Horn Adjustment

The Alarm Horn Country Setting changes the Length and Volume of the Alarm Horn Sound.

  • 0 = Great Britain (Frequency Modulated - 10 Tamper Alarms)
  • 1 = Great Britain (Frequency Modulated - 1 Tamper Alarm)
  • 2 = Rest of World (Discontinuous - 10 Tamper Alarms)
  • 3 = Rest of World (Discontinuous - 1 Tamper Alarm)

Channel 017: Comfort Function

Enables Comfort via Remote Functionality depending on the Options enabled in the Control Module Coding. This Adaptation Channel will have no Effect if the Comfort Function(s) are disabled in the Control Module Coding.

  • 0 = Comfort Function OFF
  • 1 = Comfort Function ON

Channel 018: Alarm Delay

Deactivates the Anti-Theft-Warning Delay when opening the Drivers Door before the Anti-Theft-Warning-System is being activated.

  • 0 = Alarm Delay OFF
  • 1 = Alarm Delay ON

Channel 019: Factory Mode

Factory Mode is usually active when a newly delivered Control Module is being installed. To enable all Functions of the new Control Module Factory Mode has to be disabled. Once it has been disabled it cannot be enabled again.

Special Procedures

Remote Control Synchronization

  • If locked, open the car using the drivers door lock.
  • Press the remote control unlock button.
  • Put the key in the ignition lock and switch on ignition.
  • Switch off ignition and pull the key out of the ignition lock.
  • Press the remote control lock or unlock button.

The synchronization is now finished.

Replacement

  • Make sure all vehicle remotes are present.
  • Run and save a complete Auto-Scan and save it prior to module removal. See the Online Manual Auto-Scan.
  • Code the module with the Long Coding from the original module found in the Auto-Scan.
    • Note: If the new module is not the same part number it may use a longer coding scheme than the original module. If registered users need assistance configuring the new coding they can send the before and after replacement Auto-Scans to Support for assistance.
  • Disable Factory Mode
  • Remote Control Matching
  • Clear all fault codes and verify all comfort functions and lighting are working as per design.

Special Notes

If the remotes will not operate but are confirming while matching during the Adaptation process check the following possible causes:

  • Verify the module is not new and still in Factory Mode.
  • Check the ignition S-contact switching and driver door latch measuring block switching because remotes will not lock the doors if either are faulty/implausible.
  • Run a complete Auto-Scan to make sure other modules do not have codes which may indicate the coding is incorrect or incorrect modules are installed in the vehicle. This includes, but is not limited to, addresses 09-Centeral Electronics and 16-Steering Wheel.

'If the remotes will not match and the module is not confirming during the Adaptation process check the following possible causes:

  • Incorrect Coding
  • Factory Mode enabled in new module
  • Incorrect remote(s)
  • Incorrect Central Electronics module

Registered customers can contact us directly via email for assistance. Every inquiry on this topic must include a full Auto-Scan as well as which parts have been replaced and why.
