** Short circuit in wiring to/from Airbag Control Module (J234) and ground.
** Faulty Fuel Pump Relay (J17) and/or faulty Central Conv. Module (J393)
** Airbag Control Module (J234) defective

* When found in '''AIRBAG VW71''' vehicles such as the [[VW New Beetle/Cabriolet (1C/1Y/9C)|1Y New Beetle Cabriolet]]
** Use the factory level wiring diagrams to check for a short circuit in wiring to/from Airbag Control Module (J234) and ground on the A125 "Crash Data" circuit. ''Note, all components must be unplugged before connecting a DVOM!''
** Remove the Fuel Pump Relay (J17) and faulty Central Conv. Module (J393) to see if this DTC will clear. If the fault clears, reinstall one of the components at a time to determine the cause.
** Replace Airbag Control Module (J234) only after the wiring and all components on the A125 spliced circuit are ruled out as possible causes.
