01683 - Wheel Speed Signals / Vehicle Speed

Possible Symptoms

• ABS light On
• ESP/ASR Light On

Possible Causes

• WSS (Wheel Speed Sensor) readings from ABS module and VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) readings are not plausible
• Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to WSS faulty
• WSS (Wheel Speed Sensor) Faulty
• Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
• VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)

Possible Solutions

• Check MVBs for live readings of VSS and WSS in various modules, including Engine, Transmission and ABS
• Check WSS and VSS sensors and wiring and/or connector(s) from/to sensors

Special Notes

• When found with missing WSS readings from one or more wheels verify:
  • The air gap in-between the WSS and the ABS pick-up wheel is correct.
  • The pick-up wheel (including metal ring on the wheel bearing or CV joint ring) aren't missing/damaged.
