VW Golf (1K) Comfort System
Coding
- Coding information is found using the Long Coding Helper while connected to the vehicle with VCDS.
- When replacing a module it is critical to save the original coding and transfer it to the new module as explained in the Replacement section below.
Adaptation
Channel 000: Remote Control Clearing

- The time for matching remotes after saving the new value should not exceed 15 seconds. You can add a maximum of 4 remotes.
- If the [Test] and/or [Save] buttons are gray and not clickable the module likely has all 4 positions filled and clearing remotes will be necessary in Channel 000.

Replacement
- Make sure all vehicle remotes are present.
- Run and save a complete Auto-Scan and save it prior to module removal. See the Online Manual Auto-Scan.
- Code the module with the Long Coding from the original module found in the Auto-Scan.
- Note: If the new module is not the same part number it may use a longer coding scheme than the original module. If registered users need assistance configuring the new coding they can send the before and after replacement Auto-Scans to Support for assistance.
- Disable Factory Mode
- Remote Control Matching
- Vehicles with the diagnostic capable Address [65] - Tire Pressure Monitoring will need configured next.
- Code the TPMS module with the original coding from the saved Auto-Scan.
- Enter the Security Access and Adapt the Specified Pressure as per the vehicle label.
- Refer to this Tech Tip if the TPMS system does not learn the wheel sensor ID after a short drive.
- Vehicles with the diagnostic capable Address [65] - Tire Pressure Monitoring will need configured next.
- Clear all fault codes and verify all comfort functions and lighting are working as per design.
Special Notes
If the remotes will not operate but are confirming while matching during the Adaptation process check the following possible causes:
- Verify the module is not new and still in Factory Mode.
- Check the ignition S-contact switching and driver door latch measuring block switching because remotes will not lock the doors if either are faulty/implausible.
- Run a complete Auto-Scan to make sure other modules do not have codes which may indicate the coding is incorrect or incorrect modules are installed in the vehicle. This includes, but is not limited to, addresses 09-Centeral Electronics and 16-Steering Wheel.
'If the remotes will not match and the module is not confirming during the Adaptation process check the following possible causes:
- Incorrect remote(s)
- Incorrect Coding
- Factory Mode enabled in new module
- Incorrect control module
- Old remote control positions aren't cleared. Use the Remote Control Clearing procedure as needed.
Registered customers can contact us directly via email for assistance. Every inquiry on this topic must include a full Auto-Scan as well as which parts have been replaced and why.
