02823 - Requirements for Locking the Steering Column Lock not met
Possible Symptoms
- Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON
- Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) not operational
Possible Causes
- Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) faulty
Possible Solutions
- Check/Replace Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL)
Special Notes
- When found in VW Passat (3C): Immobilizer, check/replace Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) per TPI 2022458 as well as 2023556 (RoW) or Campaign 48I5 (NAR).
- When found after 16-Steering Wheel control module replacement make sure the incorrect module was not installed.
