This page applies to 2005-2009 (4F) chassis vehicles with Address-15 Component: AIRBAG AUDI8R
The installed Airbag type can be identified by evaluating the data in the Auto-Scan:
Address 15: Airbags Labels: 4F0-910-655-8R.lbl Part No SW: 4F0 910 655 B HW: 4F0 959 655 A Component: 56 AIRBAG AUDI8RH29 0230
Information
Replacement of Airbag AUDI8R control modules will result in Component Protection (CP) DTCs which cannot be resolved using VCDS. See the Replacement section below.
Coding
Coding is performed using Software Version Management (SVM) with an online connection to Audi headquarters.
Adaptation
Used to deactivate individual airbag components (see repair manual for details).

Special Procedures
Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706): Reset
If a repair on the Seat Occupied Recognition has been performed, a reset has to be performed too.
Prerequisites:
- Seat in normal position.
- Seat must NOT be occupied during the whole procedure.
- Seatbelt must NOT be plugged in.
- No faults in the system.
- Interior temperature must be between 0 °C and 37 °C (32 °F and 98 °F).

Replacement
Replacement of the Airbag control module may result in Component Protection (CP) DTCs such as U1101 and U1100. Component Protection can only be learned/disabled using the Factory Tool in Combination with an online Connection with GeKo access.
Coding is performed online as well using a process called SVM (Software Version Management). SVM is a system used by VW/Audi to flash update control modules, and in certain cases, to change their Coding, Adaptation and configure Parameters.
Even if you have a complete Auto-Scan saved prior to replacing the Airbag module and the replacement part number is EXACTLY the same we strongly recommend using SVM to code and unlock CP for liability reasons.
