This procedure details how to change the instrument cluster on VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda vehicles with Immobilizer II, where the immobilizer control module is integrated in instrument cluster.
Determining IMMO-ID (ECU)
[Select]
[01 - Engine]
Look at the first "Extra" field. The 14-digit string is the Immo-ID.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Note: If the 17 Digit VIN is shown the vehicle does not use Immo II and the procedure here does not apply.
Determining IMMO-ID (Instrument Cluster)
[Select]
[17 - Instruments]
Look at the first "Extra" field. The 14-digit string is the Immo-ID.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Note: If the 17 Digit VIN is shown the vehicle does not use Immo II and the procedure here does not apply.
Instrument Cluster Swapping
Prerequisites:
- The Coding from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster has been saved.
- The REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) cluster is installed in the car.
- Battery voltage at least 12.0 V.
- All relevant coding and adaptation values have been transferred from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster to the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) cluster.
- Make sure to have the PIN for the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) instrument cluster.
- Make sure to have the Radio Code (for factory radios only).
Coding
[Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Enter the coding from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster
[Do It!]
Additional Volkswagen Step Including models with an Integral Address 19 - CAN Gateway in the Cluster
[Select]
[19 - CAN Gateway]
[Coding - 07]
Enter the coding from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster
[Do It!]
Additional Audi Step Including vehicles that Do Not use an Integral Address 19 - CAN Gateway in the Cluster
Additional Adaptation Channels may be needed for SRI and the Internal Installation List of installed modules.
- The Internal Installation List channels are generally 060, 061 and 062 when applicable.
- The SRI channels vary by cluster. The automated SRI Reset feature of VCDS can be used to check the settings.
Matching the Cluster to the Engine ECU
[Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Adaption - 10]
Leave channel at "00"
[Read]
[Save]
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Switch ignition Off and then back On within one minute, but do not start vehicle.
Notes: On some Euro Audi models with Immobilizer II, a PIN will be required.
Proceed with Key Matching (through Instrument Cluster) now.
Special Notes
- Instructions for mileage entry on a new instrument cluster can be found here: Procedure for installing a NEW Instrument Cluster in vehicles with Immobilizer II
- Please note the Country Coding and Kilometer -or- Mile units prior to saving the adaptation value!
- VCDS can not alter or "correct" the odometer reading of a used instrument cluster.
