Ross-Tech is not responsible for any damage or problems that may result from following these instructions. They are to be used at your own risk.

These instructions apply to the Audi A4/S4/A5/S5 (8K/8T). Similar models include the Audi 2008 + Q5 (8R/FP).

  • It is always recommended to perform a complete Auto-Scan and save it prior to coding changes. Please see the Online Manual: Auto Scan Screen
  • Never Copy coding from a different vehicle and Paste it to your module(s)!
  • Prior to Adaptation Channel modifications in vehicles on this diagnostic platform it is strongly advised to save PLA (Adaptation) Control Module Maps.

The installed control modules vary by vendor, firmware level and equipment level, some of the noted tweaks may not be supported by all control modules/vehicles.

[09] - Central Electronics / Body Control Module (BCM1 1.0)

Notes:

  • These vehicles use two BCM modules. BCM 1 is the [09] - Central Electronics which is responsible for most of the lighting in the front of the vehicle and sub-system controls including wiper activity.
  • BCM 2 is the [46] - Comfort System module AND it has a virtual address address word [05] - Acc/Start Auth. (J393) (aka KESSY). BCM 2 controls most of the rear body lighting and conventional comfort operations such as windows and door locks. The KESSY itself is the immobilizer, and does not have a sense of humor - in other words don't mess with him.

Lighting

Modifications are found in found in two locations:

  • [Adaptation -10]
    • Choose the desired operation from the drop-down list -or- type the channel number into the box and [Read] the stored value. If a channel reports Error, Security Access required refer to the pop-up balloon in VCDS after selecting [Security Access - 16].
  • [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper.
    • Click on each of the Bytes and Bits for the documented options and check or un-check the appropriate boxes as shown in the example below:

[Select]
[09 - Cent. Elect.] Or the module you intend on tweaking as per the list below
[Coding - 07]
[Long Coding Helper]
Click on each of the Byte numbers in row 3) and you'll see the selectable options below. Check or Un-check the boxes for the desired results. Example: Daytime Running Lights via DRL LEDs active

Close the Long Coding Helper by clicking the Windows X box on the top right of the screen or clicking the Exit button on the top left of the screen to send your altered Coding value back to the Coding screen.
[Do It!]
.

Daytime Running Lights via DRL LEDs

  • Found in Coding, Long Coding Helper.

Winking LED DR Daytime Running Lights inactive with Turn Signal On

  • Found in Coding, Long Coding Helper. "Daytime Running Lights inactive with Turn Signal ("Winking") active"

Turn Signal Dimming Will modify the LED intensity when the headlights are on.

  • Found in Adaptation.

Wiper

Automatic Rear Window Wiping with Reverse Gear

  • Found in Adaptation.

Tear Drop Wiping for Front Wiper inactive

  • Found in Coding, Long Coding Helper.

Headlight Washer Activation Time
Headlight Washer Activation Delay
Headlight Washer Delay

  • All 3 are found in Adaptation.

Coming Home/Leaving Home

Options are primarily found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper. Some [Adaptation -10] Channels may be available after enabling coding options.

Coming-Home active
Leaving-Home active

  • Are both found in Coding, Long Coding Helper.
    • Custom settings are also available in the long coding. Some examples include; Coming/Leaving-Home adjustable via MMI/Car Menu, with Low Beam, Fog Lights, etc.

Coming-Home Time
Leaving-Home Activation/Deactivation

  • Found in Adaptation.

[17] - Instrument Cluster

Gauge Test/Needle Sweep or Staging. The gauge needles should sweep from default to max upon starting the car.
This is may Not be supported on all instrument clusters.

Seat Belt Light/Chime

  • Found in Coding, Long Coding helper.

Lap Timer

  • Found in Coding, Long Coding helper.

Service Interval Reset

  • Use The [SRI Reset] feature in VCDS. Do not attempt to tweak individual adaptation channels unless you were instructed to do so by us -or- you really know what you are doing.

[46] - Comfort System (BCM2 2.0)

Notes: The notes from BCM1 1.0 above apply.

Door Locking

Auto-Lock Locking at 15 kph/10 mph Auto-Lock active is found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper.

  • After the Coding is enabled additional key personalization options must be configured!
    • The MMI may have new menus which will operate based on user selections -and- the key that is used during the modifications.
      • See the MMI > Car > Central Locking menus for available options.
    • Alternatively, Adaptation Channels 001, 002, 003, 004 contain personalization settings for each key.
      • The stored value is a sum of several options. Use the information in the pop-up balloon and add the desired features to generate the new adaptation value. +00004 = Auto-Lock (Locking at 15 kph/10 mph) is very common.

Auto-UnLock Unlocking with Key Removal Auto-Unlock is found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper.
