This page applies to MQB vehicles such as the Audi A3 (8V), Seat Leon (5F), Skoda Octavia (5E) and VW Golf (5G) with Address-15 Component: AirbagVW20.

This can be identified by evaluating the data in the Auto-Scan:

Address 15: Airbags (J234) Labels: 5Q0-959-655.clb
    Part No SW: 5Q0 959 655 T HW: 5Q0 959 655 T
    Component: AirbagVW20
    ASAM Dataset: EV_AirbaVW20SMEVW37X

Coding

AirbagVW20 modules are Long Coded and configured online using the Factory Tool and Software Version Management (SVM). Coding documentation is NOT available in VCDS.

Replacement Airbag control modules will have Component Protection DTCs such as U1101 and U1100. Component Protection can only be learned/disabled using the Factory Tool in Combination with an online Connection.

Adaptation

Used to deactivate individual airbag components (see repair manual for details).

Notes

Special Notes

  • We received successful Seat Belt Tensioner matching feedback from the AirbagVW21 system found in a 2017 RoW market (MQB) Tiguan using the Seat Belt Tensioner Control Module Reset instructions on this page.

Due to liability concerns, Ross Tech does not offer assistance for installing used airbag components.

  • If you click the J706 basic settings tests out of sequence, you may need to exit the module, cycle the key and repeat the entire process.
  • If the procedure results in an error message -or- does not complete as expected:
  1. Registered users can send a complete Auto-Scan via email -or- register and post in our forum.
  2. Include specific details regarding which component(s) were replaced in the vehicle.
  3. Include specific details regarding the exact results when completing the basic settings procedure.
