Possible Symptoms

  • Airbag light on
  • PODS system inoperative

Possible Causes

  • Wiring Open Circuit to Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706)
  • Fuse to Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706) blown or missing
  • Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Check Wiring for Open Circuit to Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706)
  • Check Fuse to Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706)
  • Check/Replace Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706)

Special Notes

  • When found in Golf Mk6 based vehicles with the AirbagVW10G system installed check the Auto-Scan for 08-Auto HVAC fault codes related to (G65) High Pressure Sensor such as B10AE/9481748 - High Pressure Sensor: Open or Short to Ground. If open or short to ground DTCs for the (G65) High Pressure Sensor are stored in conjunction with this Airbag system DTC check to make sure the shared fuse isn't blown.
