B10A915 - Control Circuit A/C Compressor: Open or Short to Plus

Possible Symptoms

  • Climate Control not working (Not cooling)

Possible Causes

  • Fuse(s) faulty
  • Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to Compressor Regulating Valve (N280) faulty
    • The wrong 2-wire electrical connector is plugged into the Regulating Valve (N280)
  • Compressor Regulating Valve (N280) faulty
  • Heating/Climate Control Module (J301) faulty

Possible Solutions

  • Check Fuse(s)
  • Check Wiring and/or Connector(s) from/to Compressor Regulating Valve (N280)
    • Verify the color of the wires matches the ones shown in the wiring diagram for N280 as per this thread
  • Check/Replace Compressor Regulating Valve (N280)
    • Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
    • Perform Output Test
  • Check/Replace Heating/Climate Control Module (J301)

Special Notes

  • The Refrigerant Compressor may need to be replaced if the Compressor Regulating Valve (N280) is not available separately.
  • When found in the (4H) Audi A8 chassis 08-Auto HVAC control module, check the N280 AC compressor wiring to/from J519 per the factory level Wiring Diagram.
    • If coolant or water migration damaged the wiring harnesses you may find this DTC in conjunction with 01232, B10A9 or B10C6.
    • The following pages contains a photos from a (4H) 4.2L A8L with corrosion damaged 4H A8L 14b pin connector:
