00576 - Terminal 15: Electrical Fault in Circuit

Possible Symptoms

• Power Locks operating at random while driving.
• Radio doesn't turn off when key is removed from Ignition.
• Battery drain.
• No audible confirmation from alarm horn when arming alarm system.
• On the Eos, the front windows may drop down a little if rolled up all the way.

Possible Causes

• Defective Ignition Switch (Electrical Portion)
• Wiring harness issue

Possible Solutions

• Replace the Ignition Switch (Electrical Portion).
• Repair damaged wiring harness.

Special Notes

• Often times this is found with the one or more of the following codes:
  • 00883 - Ignition Switch (D) Terminal S : Electrical Fault in Circuit
  • 00884 - Ignition Switch (D) Terminal X : Electrical Fault in Circuit
  • 01744 - Ignition Switch Terminal P (D) : Electrical Fault in Circuit

The most common cause for this is the Ignition Switch (Electrical Portion).

• When found in a Trailer control module, try disconnecting and reconnecting the trailer module, then clear faults.

00576 - Terminal 15: Implausible Signal

• When found in the BCM1/09-Cent. Elect. (J519) module in the B8 chassis Audi A4 check for missing fuses.
  • A missing fuse in position ST1/SC8 was responsible for this DTC in conjunction with inoperative H2 and H7 Horns on a July, 2008 Production 2.0T A4. This vehicle showed measuring group data before the missing fuse was replaced:
    • 004,1,Terminal 15,(CAN) = On
      
    • 004,2,Terminal 15,(Hardware) = Off
      

• When found in other models using the same B8 based MLB based Cent. Elect. (J519) BCM1 based control module check the fuse position that powers T32b/16 at BCM1/09-Cent. Elect. (J519). The connectors and terminal numbers should be located in the Fuse position and Standard equipment wiring diagrams located in the Official Factory Repair Information.

00576 - Terminal 15: Open or Short to Ground

Possible Symptoms

• Ignition doesn't power up
• Gear selector can not be operated
• No communication with several control modules

Possible Causes

• Faulty J329 relay
• Electrical path issue for J329 relay (blown fuse, broken wire)
• Faulty Access/Start module

Possible Solutions

• Replace failed J329 relay
• Repair wiring or terminals for J329 relay
• Replace failed Access/Start module
