17035/P0651/001617 - Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit/Open
Possible Symptoms
- Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active
- Poor engine performance
Possible Causes
- Faulty wiring on Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit
- Faulty sensor or component on Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit
- Faulty ECM
Possible Solutions
- Check wiring on Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit
- Check sensors and components on the Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit
- Check wiring at the ECM with all components removed from the Circuit to verify the reference voltage is present.
- If the ECM is NOT producing the needed voltage and all powers/grounds going to it are OK, replace ECM.
Special Notes
- When found in any Golf (1K/5K/AJ) based VW model with a 2nd Gen (2008.5 - 2014 model year) timing chain driven 2.0TSI Gasoline engine, the Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit should be found on terminal T60/29 which powers G40, G247 and G609 (when installed).
- When found in Golf (1K/5K/AJ) based VW models such as a 2013 NMS Passat with CBUA 2.5L Gasoline engine, the Sensor Reference Voltage "B" Circuit should be found on terminal T60/44 labeled "5V2" which powers G40, G271 and G609.
